Roberto Razeto: Education and Sustainability

The "Democracy, Sustainability and Corporations" conference was held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on February 21st, 2023, as part of the "Global Conference on internet democracy." A Citizens’ Platform on Climate Change and a Sustainable World event co-organised with The Map Report, the aim was to discuss the real needs for efficient and effective development of corporate sustainability. Roberto Razeto, Head of International Affairs at IULM University, talked about the key role of education for sustainability. He explained that when people are properly informed about the sources and accuracy of information, they are better able to distinguish between reliable and unreliable sources. Sustainable practices in university can have positive effects on the local communities, creating jobs and reducing poverty. Universities have the unique ability to educate students and faculty on sustainability and greenwashing. In fact, digital and sustainability are closely interconnected because digital technology is essential to sustainable initiatives, it enables a more efficient use of resources and can help reduce the environmental impact.
